Carbon Tetrachloride (Carbon Tet for short, or Tetrachloromethane, named herself Katharin Martin) is a major character in Chemical Culture. She is mostly known for being a former firefighter, a successful and talented dry-cleaner and Chloroform's older sister. She was created in 1820, making her one of the oldest Organochlorides, C. Tetrachloride is 10 years older than Chloroform and 19 years older than her brother Dichloromethane. C. Tetrachloride was executed for "crimes against the ozone layer" in 2010.

Carbon Tetrachloride had a dark sense of humour and would make jokes about controversial topics and eating people's livers. She was basically unable to feel anger, never held grudge against anyone and was very calm besides the times when she bursted into laughter. C. Tetrachloride threatened everyone with stealing and eating their livers when they slightly disagreed with her. She got off to making humans suffer by causing them organ damage. Often seen calling people and other Chemicals "degenerates". She refuses to use the name "Tetrachloromethane" because she thinks that IUPAC is like "the Illuminati for Chemical folks". She did not want to be organic and her father Carbon Disulphide is responsible for this. Beginning in the 1860s, until 1950, she was under influence of him. She moved next to Chloroform and DCM's house after the 1950s where she lived until 1970.

Carbon Tetrachloride pretended to be nice and protective towards humans when she was a doctor and a firefighter because she wanted to be a nice Chemical. It was, again, C. Disulphide who made her accept herself and stop "trying to be who she cannot be". She faked being French, spoke French with a British accent and called herself random French names. She was actually ashamed of being old and always lied about being 8 years younger than Chloroform.

Her brothers (Dichloromethane and Chloromethane) meant nothing to her while Chloroform was her "dearest" due to being both her younger sister and her mother. C. Tetrachloride even threatened Chloromethane. She has been called "Carbon Tit(s)" by DCM because he wanted to touch her titties. Chloroform calls her "Necatorina" (necator means "murderer" in Latin, how lovely). Chloroform defends her more than anyone else. Unlike Chloromethane, DCM and even Chloroform, she did not like Methanol, she called Methanol a "cougar" for DCM. She has called her brothers "degenerates". Despite being a former dry-cleaner and a pioneer in dry-cleaning, C. Tetrachloride despised dry-cleaners but she was kinder to Tetrachloroethylene whom she spent her early life with and taught dry-cleaning to. Trichloroethane I, who was executed in 1996 for "crimes against the ozone layer", never called her by the name, instead she called C. Tetrachloride "The Liver-eating Hellspawn Organochloride Goddess/Mother" because C. Tetrachloride was at the most chlorinated state of carbon that can exist.

Appearance
Carbon Tetrachloride is a tall woman with very long, straight dark blue hair and dark red eyes. She often curled her hair or cut it very short. She loved to style her hair into 4 braids, just like Chloroform has done for a longer time. She has a very pale skin and unusually muscular build for a Chemical. Her face looks very serious and masculine which gives humans the false impression of seriousness and "professionality" (she was actually a professional at work but not in the personality manner). She never smiled with her teeth showing to humans because she did not want them to see her fangs. She smells sweeter than Chloroform but not as strong as Chloroform and she is proud of ither deceptive odour.

C. Tetrachloride wore work-appropriate but sometimes kind of "revealing" clothes. HerShe uniformcould coatbe wasseen redin unlikehyper-feminine or hyper-masculine clothing at any time of the day, she basically had no preference in clothing expect for her siblings'preference to wear black/dark-coloured clothes, often wore black gloves. She always wore the same type of blue-red coatsstriped long socks and black leather shoes with heels. MostShe does not wear any underwear and most of her clothes were taken from Chloroform's wardrobe and restyled to fit herself. ==Early life and career==
Line 41:
C. Tetrachloride became a firefighter in 1910 and worked as one until the 1960s where she used her heavy vapours to suffocate the flames. She hired her cousin Trichloroethylene and sister Chloroform as her assistants to work in cold weather as cold weather stopped her vapours. She was forced to retire because the phosgene from the decomposition of her vapours killed many humans during duty and C. Tetrachloride was replaced by Halons who worked more safely. She also had a very short, experimental career in refrigeration like many other person in the Organohalides family.

Carbon Tetrachloride has worked in textile and general cleaning industries under the names "Katharin", "Carbon-Tet" and "Benzinoform", and opened her first dry-cleaner in the 1890s as an opposition to the dominant Hydrocarbons in this industry. She was very successful in the dry-cleaning industry and introduced Trichloroethylene and Tetrachloroethylene into dry-cleaning in the 1930s. Then C. Tetrachloride entirely retired from this industry in the 1960s around when Trichloroethylene was overthrown by Tetrachloroethylene. She worked as a hairdresser in England from 1903 to 1913 and served to high society women. C. Tetrachloride also made lava lamps and sold them from 1965, until 1970 when she describes as "the beginning of the end" for her.

Later years, execution and legacy
Humans noticed Carbon Tetrachloride's dangerous homicidal pontential as early as the 1900s when she was working as a hairdresser but no-one took any action since she had already gained humans' trust. She had killed many humans during duty and this lead to the US government retire her from all close-contact work with humans in 1970, this was "the beginning of the end" for her. Until 1986, C. Tetrachloride worked in agriculture together with her father C. Disulphide. In 1987, humans discovered that she had committed "crimes against the ozone layer", she was banned from doing any work after an order by humans. After 1987, she was not allowed outside ever. C. Tetrachloride survived the 1996 Halocarbon executions which her son refrigeration consultant Trichlorofluoromethane did not. Her other children Chlorotrifluoromethane and Dichlorodifluoromethane were only warned and retired.

Humans carried out another large-scale Halocarbon executions for the same "crimes against the ozone layer" reason in 2010. This order included those who were forgiven in the 1996 order and got warnings. Carbon Tetrachloride and her CFC children Chlorotrifluoromethane and Dichlorodifluoromethane were executed following this order.
Line 50:
Even after her execution, there had been controversies involving C. Tetrachloride and the ozone layer. Humans stated that they "should have acted earlier" about Carbon Tetrachloride. She was idolised by many humans and Chemicals because of her hardwork and interesting history and properties. An online fandom grew nearly 10 years after the execution of C. Tetrachloride.
Controversies
Carbon Tetrachloride had involved in various controversies during her life. Despite being a great worker, she had a tendency to physically harm humans who worked with her. She had issues with humans who consume alcohol and had killed humans who simply stayed in the room as her after they consumed alcohol. At first, she was ashamed of these since it was not a thing that she controlled and tried so hard to keep her image as a preferred and safe Chemical, but ever since humans acknowledged her effects on their livers and took measurements against her, she realised that it was impossible to suppress "your true nature" as a Chemical and she came loose. She "ate" humans' livers and lethally caused kidney damage.

Ozone layer
Just like any other Chemical who has the Volatility power, C. Tetrachloride emits non-flammable and heavy vapours which she used to extinguish fires. It was discovered in 1985 or 1987 that her vapours were damaging the ozone layer.
