Carbon Tetrachloride has worked in textile and general cleaning industries under the names "Katharin", "Carbon-Tet" and "Benzinoform", and opened her first dry-cleaner in the 1890s as an opposition to the dominant Hydrocarbons in this industry. She was very successful in the dry-cleaning industry and introduced Trichloroethylene and Tetrachloroethylene into dry-cleaning in the 1930s. Then C. Tetrachloride entirely retired from this industry in the 1960s around when Tetrachloroethylene overthrew Trichloroethylene.
