She had a good understanding of mechanics and loved to clean and repair machinery. She worked as a hairdresser in England from 1903 to 1913 and served to high society women. She also had a very short, experimental career in refrigeration like many other people in the Organohalides family. C. Tetrachloride also made lava lamps and sold them from 1965, until 1970 which she describes as "the beginning of the end" for her.
