She spent her early life with Carbon Tetrachloride who introduced her to parasitology and dry cleaning. Tetrachloroethylene had a career in parasitology starting in 1925 after being chosen by humans and trained by C. Tetrachloride. Some Chemicals have speculated that Perchloroethylene was trying to replace, or even "be" C. Tetrachloride, as early as the 1860s when Perchloroethylene was calling herself "Protochloride of Carbon" which was the first name of C. Tetrachloride. [.]] In the 1930s, Tetrachloroethylene was nominated for dry cleaning. Humans believed she would work similar to C. Tetrachloride but more cautious. In the first 20 years her work in dry cleaning didn't gain much attention while C. Tetrachloride and Trichloroethylene were still very famous. Her work became more known toward the 1950s when Trichloroethylene began to view her as a rival in the industry. Tetrachloroethylene rose to fame in following years as C. Tetrachloride became known for killing her customers and Trichloroethylene was giving up on dry cleaning (possibly to work on obstetric anaesthesiology more).
